Machine Shop and On-Site Services

We continue to offer a quality machining service and a friendly approach to customer care, working with variety of industries to provide on-site machine shop services.

Components can be manufactured in all grades of steel, brass, aluminium, plastic, or stainless steel, and CAD/CAM programming can be carried out off-line prior to turning, milling, grinding and welding. Alternatively if you have existing drawings or design models, we can utilise these directly with our CNC machines and CAD packages. We offer a flexible machining service and produce everything from a single component to volume production. Our engineering experience and expertise also means we can advise you at the design stage about minor changes that may result in useful efficiencies and savings.

There seems to be an upturn in engineering work in general since the start of the year. We have secured some new customers and are looking forward to growing the business in the second half of the year. Our apprentice has started course work with the college assessors and is progressing well. Looking to highlight the benefits a career in engineering can bring to local schools.

We have now relocated to our new premises at 8 Downsway Ind Est, Heathhall, Dumfries DG1 3RS.

Moving the machines out of the old building was a challenge and getting things back up and running a time consuming operation, however the machines are now working and we have greater capacity to meet our customers needs.

It has been a busy year so far, after a visit to the Mach show at the NEC a new CNC milling machine has been ordered (delivery in July) in the meantime the workshop layout has been changed to create extra space for the new machinery. The new layout incorporates a bank of CNC machines, allowing easy access and better production flow.

Its been a busy first quarter to the year, with the increased business we have invested in a manual lathe and manual mill these will be used for production and to teach our latest trainee.

Welcome to Alastair Gillespie who has joined the team as a trainee precision engineer. Alastair has already shown a talent for machining and is keen on lathe work, he will be a great asset to the company.

The latest addition is our new VW Transporter van with company branded sign writing. The branded van will be a useful asset for deliveries and visiting customer, along with the company branding. The van will also help promote the company image throughout the local region

Ai Engineering provide the winning formula to BSR racing. Highly skilled craftsmen utilise computer technology to machine race components for successful motorcycle race team

About BSR Racing

Father and son team Bill and Ian Simpson, both former TT winners, now compete in the International Classic Grand Prix (ICGP). The ICGP championship involves bikes between 250cc and 350 from 1974 to 1984! Ian Simpson on his 350cc BSR TZ350 G competed all over Europe to be crowned the 2013 Champion. After 3 races so far this season Ian is in 2nd place.
Ai Fabrications for BSR racing

Ai Engineering have fabricated frame jigs and frames for BSR racing. The frames are sold through BSR racing to motorcycle racers throughout the world.

Several components on Ian Simpsons bike have been produced by Ai Engineering Ltd. Last year Ian won the classic championship again on a bike fitted with several components machined by the highly skilled Ai Engineering team.

Ai Engineering have just taken delivery of a new automatic horizontal bandsaw. The automatic function will allow sawing to be performed whilst operators are on other machines, reducing time and costs.
